You can even see the marks left by the wood rasp which I used to make the original pattern. I used normal masonary sand for the moulding sand. The sand is not particularly fine, so I'm quite surprised that this level of detail was preserved.In conclusion: considering that the mould fell apart when I removed the pattern, that the sand was too wet, and that I didn't use parting dust, I'm pretty happy with this casting.
